The “International Movement for Monetary Reform” organizes a webinar with Michael Kumhof, former researcher at the BoE, IMF, and Stanford University, on Thurs May 28 at 12:30-2pm ET. It will take up the question “Is there a way out of an economy built on debt?”

More information on the speaker : Dr. Michael Kumhof recently worked as Senior Research Advisor in the Research Hub of the Bank of England. Before that, he was Deputy Division Chief at the Modeling Division in the Research Department at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) (2004 to 2015). Kumhof was responsible for developing the Global Integrated Monetary and Fiscal Model of the IMF which is used at several central banks, for IMF policy and scenario analyses, for the World Economic Outlook, and for G20 work. Before that, he was Assistant Professor at Stanford University (1998 to 2004). His research focuses on the role of banks in the economy and on different monetary systems.

More information about the organizer : The “International Movement for Monetary Reform” is an international coalition of nonprofit organisations from across the world, campaigning for a monetary system that serves society.  It maintains a very clear and specific aim, namely to change the way money is created and allocated, but we are not dogmatic about the way our proposal is implemented as the details will vary from country to country.
